Sarai Silk Route Hotel is one of the most celebrated hotels in Gojal, combining a spectacular location directly beneath the Passu Cones with accommodation built in a traditional Karakoram style. The structure uses raw stone walls and heavy timber beams — materials typical of the region’s historic building traditions — giving the property a sense of place and authenticity that steel-and-glass hotels in the area cannot match.

Location & Views

The hotel’s defining feature is its extraordinary proximity to the Passu Cones — the jagged row of serrated rock spires that rise to over 6,000 metres directly north of the property. Guests can admire the cones from their room balconies, from the terrace, and from the Mizushima Restaurant’s dining area, which is positioned specifically to frame the view. The KKH runs directly alongside the property, making it an ideal base for journeys north toward Khunjerab Pass or south toward Attabad Lake and Karimabad.

Sarai Silk Route is an ideal base for the full range of Passu’s outdoor activities. The Passu Glacier walk (4 to 5 hours return) begins a short distance from the hotel. The Hussaini Suspension Bridge is within easy driving distance. The hotel can assist with arranging jeep hire to Khunjerab Pass, guides for glacier walks, and excursions to Borith Lake. The owner, Mehereban, is exceptionally knowledgeable about the area and provides invaluable local guidance to guests.
